Every great ride starts with the right gear. In 2010, Jean Larivee, a lifelong horseman, envisioned creating something extraordinary for the equestrian world. His journey began with his first off-the-track Thoroughbred—a horse that taught him the value of care, dedication, and reliable equipment. Driven by these lessons, Jean set out to design chaps that would redefine comfort, style, and performance for riders everywhere.

Jean didn’t embark on this journey alone. He teamed up with his sister-in-law, France Grenier, a talented designer with a background in ski apparel. France brought a fresh perspective to equestrian gear, merging high-performance sportswear innovation with insights gathered from riders themselves. She spent hours in barns, listening to equestrians' frustrations and needs, ensuring every design detail addressed real challenges.

Together, Jean and France created ProChaps—a brand built on the values of precision, quality, and a deep respect for the bond between horse and rider. From the start, their designs delivered more than functionality. They celebrated the joy and freedom of riding while solving the everyday frustrations of traditional chaps.

As ProChaps grew, the family roots remained strong. Jean’s daughter, Emelie, joined the team, bringing her own passion for horses and a modern perspective to the brand. Together, they’ve continued to innovate and elevate ProChaps, staying true to the mission of supporting riders in every discipline.
